CUNY Rising Alliance Liaison Program

The CUNY Rising Alliance (CRA) has brought new voices and new power to the campaign for a New Deal for CUNY. The student, community, and labor organizations affiliated with CRA have strategized, lobbied, and rallied together, and their work has contributed to the battle for free tuition, a better student to faculty ratio, fair pay for adjunct faculty, and more mental health counselors.

We understand that this battle can only be won through building student and worker power at CUNY. That’s why, with support from the AFT’s Powerful Partnership Institute, the CRA launched the CUNY Rising Alliance Liaison Program in Spring 2023. Our first two cohorts were composed of students, faculty and staff across 20 CUNY schools who educated, organized and mobilized their campus communities to fight for the New Deal for CUNY.

This Spring our aim is to identify 10-12 students and 5-8 faculty or staff who will work in teams, help build CRA through specific project areas such as communications, coalition building, base building, and legislative advocacy. These project areas will help to build our movement for public higher education and to help us fight for a quality and free City University of New York.
